Who is your trainer?

Hi, I’m Matthew, the coach behind Everyday Protocol, based in Auckland, New Zealand.

I’ve always been passionate about movement and performance. Growing up, I was heavily involved in sports and later spent years training in martial arts. Around the age of 15, I discovered my love for health and fitness, particularly strength training in the gym. Since then, I’ve explored nearly every training style imaginable and have been a qualified Personal Trainer for over 10 years, helping hundreds of clients both in person and online.

I believe health and fitness shouldn’t be complicated, it’s actually quite simple. There’s a hierarchy of needs that the human body thrives on: quality sleep, proper hydration, balanced nutrition, and consistent exercise. Mastering these basics forms the foundation for lasting results.

When you work with me, you can expect a straightforward, sustainable approach. No gimmicks or “fancy” programming, just effective training, structure, and accountability. My goal is to help you build a lifestyle that supports not only your weight-loss or muscle-building goals, but also long-term energy, strength, and confidence.

One of my most rewarding coaching experiences was helping a client reduce the amount of medication they were taking for diabetes (a change recommended by their doctor as a result of the progress we made together). It reminded me that not all goals look the same, and some victories mean much more than numbers on a scale.

Education is at the heart of what I do. I believe knowledge is power. The more you understand your body, the more control you have over your health. I’m here to guide, support, and empower you with the tools to manage your own fitness journey with confidence.

I’m also fascinated by the science behind human performance, which is why I love programming for specific goals such as HYROX, CrossFit, bodybuilding, and triathlon training.
